Fruitful In The Land Of Affliction
A novel of the life of Joseph
Book Two in The Beloved Series
A story of fractured brotherhood, divine purpose, and unexpected grace

What if the very one you rejected became the one who held your future in his hands?
Sold into slavery by his own brothers, Joseph’s life takes a course no one could have foreseen. In a foreign land and surrounded by power, betrayal, and isolation, he holds fast to the one thing he cannot lose—his faith.
Drawn to her since childhood, Reuben can no longer deny the love he has for Bilhah—but will their ill-fated love bring happiness or devastating consequences for them both?
Judah, reeling from guilt over Joseph’s disappearance and his Abba’s grief, turns away—into a life and marriage far from his people and their faith. But loss has a way of unearthing truth, and when everything collapses, Judah must face who he’s become—and who he’s still called to be.
When famine drives the brothers to Egypt, they unknowingly stand before the brother they betrayed years ago. As their fate hangs in the balance, an unexpected choice looms: will they face the consequences of their past, or be spared by something beyond their understanding?
Told with emotional depth, cultural authenticity, and reverence for the biblical text, Fruitful In The Land Of Affliction, explores the lives of Israel’s sons at the crossroads of failure and grace. It is a story of repentance and renewal, of promises remembered—and of God’s purposes fulfilled.
Your First Taste
The soft shuffle of footsteps echoed beyond the heavy doors, followed by the familiar murmur of a servant. Her pulse quickened. He was here.
The door creaked open, and Joseph stepped inside, his posture stiff, wary. Sunlight caught the bronze of his skin, the broad set of his shoulders tense beneath the robe he had taken to wearing to cover his bare chest. He carried the ledgers as always, his hands steady, his gaze careful as it flicked over the chamber. He did not look at her—not directly—but she saw the way his jaw tightened, the way he took a slow breath as if steeling himself.
Zanipha smiled. The tension was palpable. Good.
“Joseph,” she murmured, her voice smooth as warm honey. “Come, lie down here with me. Rest a while with me.”
He set the ledgers on the table, keeping his eyes fixed on them as though they contained all the wisdom of the world. “I have duties to attend to.”
“Duties?” She let out a soft laugh. “And yet, my husband is away. The house runs smoothly. You have done well.” She leaned forward, resting her chin against her palm, watching him. “Surely you can take a little time for yourself, Joseph? For a little rest?”
He swallowed. “I cannot rest while also serving my master with integrity. With me here, he has nothing to concern himself with. He’s put everything he owns in my charge. There’s no-one else who can do what I do, none in a greater position than me. I can’t just drop everything to rest, no matter how hard I’ve worked.”
She stood, moving toward him in slow, deliberate steps. He took a half-step back, but she reached him before he could retreat any further.
